How are days calculated?
Calculating the difference between two dates involves subtracting the timestamp of the "Start Date" from the "End Date". However, real-world calculation involves complex variables like:
- Month Variations: Months range from 28 to 31 days.
- Daylight Savings: Can cause a day to have 23 or 25 hours.
- Leap Years: The addition of February 29th every 4 years.
The Tricky Math of Leap Years
Many people believe a Leap Year happens simply "every 4 years." However, the rule is actually more precise to keep our calendar aligned with the Earth's orbit (which takes 365.2425 days).
The 3 Rules of Leap Years:
- The year must be evenly divisible by 4.
- If the year can also be divided by 100, it is NOT a leap year...
- ...UNLESS the year is also evenly divisible by 400. Then it IS a leap year.

Is the End Date included in the count?
No. This calculator measures the duration between dates. For example, from Jan 1st to Jan 2nd is 1 day. If you want to count both days (inclusive), simply add +1 to the Total Days result.
Does "Business Days" include holidays like Christmas?
No. This tool calculates working days by mathematically excluding Saturdays and Sundays. It does not subtract public holidays (like Christmas, Thanksgiving, or Bank Holidays) because these vary by country and state. You should manually subtract any holidays that fall on a weekday from the result.
How many weeks are in a year?
There are 52 full weeks plus 1 day in a standard year (365 days), and 52 weeks plus 2 days in a leap year (366 days).
